Luis is an Of Counsel in our banking and finance practice in the Madrid office, focusing on cross-border banking and finance and capital market transactions. He is admitted to practice in New York, England and Wales and Argentina.

Luis has more than 15 years of experience in financial markets and project financing and has represented investment funds, financial institutions, multilateral agencies, commercial and investment banks, tenderers, project companies, developers, issuers, underwriters and sponsors in financial transactions of all kinds, including project financing in energy, infrastructure and PPP projects, sophisticated project bond deals, multicurrency financings, corporate financings, M&A financings and high-yield debt. His experience in capital markets transactions includes representing issuers, investors, investment funds and financial institutions acting as initial purchasers or placement agents in corporate Rule 144A, Regulation S, Section 4(a)(2) private placements and B Bond financings.

Luis is recognised as ‘Recommended Lawyer’ in Projects and Energy by Legal500 Latin America: International Firms 2026 and was honored with the ‘Rising Star of the Year’ award at the IFLR Americas Awards in 2020.

Selected matters

  • Eldridge and its affiliates in connection with a €56 million real estate financing for Greystar for the development and construction of a 458-unit flexible living asset located in Boadilla del Monte, Madrid, Spain.
  • a consortium led by China Harbour Engineering Company Limited, SP Ingenieros, Unidad de Infraestructura y Construcciones Asociadas, and Termotécnica Coindustrial in connection with the approximately US$658 million multi-tranche, multi-currency, term loan financing of the Mar 2 toll road project in Colombia.
  • a syndicate of financial institutions and institutional investors, including BBVA, Banco Santander, ICO, Banca March, Unicaja, Denham Capital, BNP, EDR, LBP AM, and Mutua, among others, in connection with the approximately €190 million financing granted to Magnon Green Energy for the purpose of the refinancing of the existing financial indebtedness of its group and the financing of additional working capital needs of the group.

Background

Luis obtained his LL.M from New York University Law School, where he was a Hauser Scholar. Prior to that, he obtained a master's degree in oil and gas law from the Law School of the University of Buenos Aires, where he also obtained his law degree.
