The London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) has appointed Gitta Satryani, Herbert Smith Freehills' Singapore managing partner and head of its Southeast Asia disputes practice, as a member of the Court effective 9 May 2025, for a five-year term.
Gitta is a recognised leader in international arbitration and complex cross-border disputes, with expertise in international commercial arbitration, investment treaty arbitration and public international law.
“It is an honour to join the LCIA Court alongside many of the world's leading arbitration practitioners," said Gitta. "I look forward to contributing to the LCIA's important work in promoting fair and effective dispute resolution worldwide."
Gitta's appointment to the LCIA Court highlights her personal standing in the arbitration community, where she is widely respected for her pragmatic and business-oriented approach to resolving complex disputes.
Her appointment is the latest contribution to the profession by Herbert Smith Freehills' market-leading Asia international arbitration practice. Singapore partner Alastair Henderson was appointed to the Singapore International Arbitration Centre Court last month. Consultant May Tai is a Vice President of the ICC International Court of Arbitration, Hong Kong partner Simon Chapman KC and Debby Sulaiman, disputes partner at associate firm Hiswara Bunjamin & Tandjung, are members of the Court for Hong Kong and Indonesia respectively, and Shanghai partner Helen Tang is a vice chair of the ICC's Commission on Arbitration and ADR.
