Looking across your practice, what's the main message you'd send to clients?

Obtaining strategic advice to stay ahead of the curve has never been more important given the rapidly changing legal, regulatory and market environment.

What are the main trends you're seeing in debt capital markets in APAC?

Investor confidence has returned to the Australian debt capital markets. Recent weeks have seen strong appetite for an ever-growing number of issuances by both corporates and financial institutions. The pipeline continues to be particularly strong in the higher yielding subordinated note segment of the market.

How are things developing in the leveraged finance space?

On leveraged finance, there is a continued place for credit fund financings evidenced by a recent number of transactions utilising the unitranche product. We continue to see a healthy financing market for leveraged finance transactions with a broad range of debt products available for leveraged buyouts on increasingly borrower friendly terms for the right credit. Meanwhile, an uptick in the use of staple financings to support exits is likely to continue with a number of exits expected in the next half of the year.

How is the tax landscape evolving?

The tax landscape continues to evolve both domestically and internationally with a trend towards additional complexity and regulation of cross-border investment in particular. Our global footprint and collaborative approach allows us to provide practical advice on investment structuring and transactional issues.
