The new law on equality between men and women, published in France on 5 August 2014 has introduced (amongst other things) protection for fathers, prohibiting their dismissal in the period of 4 weeks following the birth of a child.
This provision applies to all potential dismissals from 6 August 2014.
The new provision does not however prohibit dismissals during the 4 week protected period for gross misconduct or on genuine economic grounds.
