Ryu Long
Ryu has experience in advising Japanese and international clients on a broad range of corporate and commercial matters.
Ryu is a senior associate within the corporate practice in Tokyo, and has previously worked in the HSK Kramer Singapore office. He has experience advising Japanese and international clients, including Japanese trading houses, on a broad range of corporate and commercial matters with a particular focus on cross-boarder M&A, joint ventures and investments. Ryu also has experience across a wide range of industries including TMT, consumer, manufacturing and industrials.
Ryu has extensive in-house experience through his secondment to the legal department of Sumitomo Corporation. Ryu is dual-qualified to practice in the Supreme Court of New South Wales, Australia and as a solicitor in England and Wales.

- Indosat Tbk in relation to the carve out of US$850 million of network assets into an infrastructure company (“InfraCo”), and the investment by a consortium between Arsari group and Northstar group into InfraCo to form a joint venture creating one of the leading independent fiber infrastructure platforms in Indonesia
- SoftBank Corp. on its largest investment to date, taking a majority stake in Cubic Telecom, a leading global provider of software-defined connected vehicle solutions headquartered in Dublin
- Sumitomo Corporation on its investment in DABCO Limited, a digital platform provider that enables autonomous identification and communication between connected devices
- Sumitomo Corporation on its acquisition of a stake in IWS Fleet, a Norwegian owner and operator of vessels in the offshore wind industry
- Sumitomo Corporation and Osaka Gas Co., Ltd. on the sale of Sutton and East Surrey Water plc, a UK water utility company, and certain other ancillary businesses, to Pennon Group plc
- International Data Corporation on its acquisition of ETBS, an IT benchmarking and assessment firm based in Australia
- SoftBank Group on its US$100 million investment in Indonesian online marketplace Tokopedia

Background
Ryu holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from Nottingham University School of Law (United Kingdom) and a Masters of Laws (Honours – Cum Laude) in Banking, Corporate and Finance Laws from Fordham University School of Law (New York). Ryu is a native English speaker and also speaks Japanese fluently.
Ryu is dual-qualified to practice in the Supreme Court of New South Wales, Australia and as a solicitor in England and Wales.
