Moritz heads our employment, pensions and incentives practice in Germany and is based in our Frankfurt office. As a certified specialist in employment law, he has broad experience in all fields of individual and collective employment law.

Moritz advises international and German companies on all employment and pension law matters. He focuses on advising on employment law aspects of reorganisations and transformations as well as outsourcing and carve-out projects. In addition, he regularly provides advice on employment and pension aspects of corporate transactions. Moritz brings extensive experience in designing remuneration systems and represents employers in labour court proceedings and in negotiations with works councils and trade unions. Furthermore, he advises employers on employee data protection matters and supports internal investigations from both employment law and data protection perspectives.

Moritz is listed as one of “Germany’s best lawyers” for Employment law by Best Lawyers/Handelsblatt since 2020 and has been recommended for employment law by both Chambers and JUVE.

Background

Moritz graduated from the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz and was admitted to the German bar in 2007. He focused in employment law from the beginning of his career and is admitted to practice as a certified specialist in employment law since 2011. Prior to joining Herbert Smith Freehills in 2014, Moritz worked with the employment groups of other major international law firms. He is fluent in English.
